Here’s what you care about when it comes to displays
Smartphone screens are not put on an equal footing as there is a big difference in quality between an entry-level device and a premium flagship. Between resolution, screen type and color rendering, there are many factors that contribute to a good mobile display.
2020 was arguably the year of high refresh rate as brands are turning to this technology for a smoother experience. However, Oppo also made headlines when it was announced that its flagship Find X3 will have full 10-bit color support when launched in 2021.
So that asked us what Android Authority Readers care most about mobile screens. We released the poll last month and there was definitely a clear winner.

Results
We released the poll on November 18th and received 1,415 votes at the time of writing. And just under 39% of respondents said that the refresh rate is the most important feature for them in connection with the ad. We have seen many phones with this feature, which allows for smoother gameplay in supported titles and smoother scrolling in general. It’s an understandable choice then, but high refresh rates can come at the expense of increased power consumption.
Display Tech (e.g. OLED or LCD) took second place with 28.3% of the votes. This is another understandable choice as there are definitely big differences between OLED and LCD screens. Indeed an earlier one Android Authority The survey found that more than two-thirds of respondents would choose a 60 Hz OLED panel over a high refresh rate LCD screen.
Resolution and color rendering / gamut were in distant third and fourth places. The former is pretty interesting as it suggests that screens are generally sharp enough for most users these days. We also wonder if color rendering will get more steam among users in 2021, as Oppo likely won’t be the only Android OEM to pursue this technology.
Finally, Dimensions and “Others” came fifth and last. Only 6.4% of respondents voted for the former factor, which may not be a good sign for those who want a compact smartphone.
