MWC 2021 is here, so to speak. The annual Mobile Tech Expo was canceled at the last minute in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. But this time the event takes place as a hybrid live / virtual event.
Samsung is probably the most famous participant and is holding a “Samsung Galaxy MWC Virtual Event”, where we can expect some important news. The event will be broadcast live, and here are the relevant start times for your time zone.

What should you expect?
Samsung announced the event last week, confirming that smartwatches will be a focus. More specifically, the Korean brand said it “will unveil its vision for the future of smartwatches at the event”. An official listing on the MWC website also pointed to a “new watch experience”, claiming that the company is “reinventing smartwatches”.
We already know that Samsung and Google have announced a partnership for a brand new version of the Wear OS smartwatch platform. So it stands to reason that we should take a closer look at this update and any related improvements from Samsung.
A big software update like this one requires hardware, and a lot of people are expecting Samsung to introduce a Galaxy Watch 4 series of smartwatches. We’ve already seen leaked renders and rumored details so we have a good idea of what to expect in that regard.

In addition to new smartwatches and software, Samsung will also present its “latest security improvements and innovations” at the event. The invitation image (seen at the top of the page) has a Knox logo on the device in the lower right, so we’re expecting new features for the company’s security suite.
Could we see any other news at this event? Well, despite the foldable phones in the invitation picture, we don’t expect any big news for this product category. Perhaps Samsung will give us a launch window for the new foldable devices or hints of upcoming technologies for the devices, but we wouldn’t be holding our breath.
