There are many video streaming services to choose from, and it often requires the use of more than one to keep an eye on your favorite shows. This can be quite a costly endeavor, especially if you subscribe to more than five, for example. However, according to a recent survey on our website, a significant number of users are doing just that.
We asked readers to weigh up how many video streaming services they subscribe to. Here’s what they told us.
How many video streaming services do you subscribe to?
Results
This survey produced some surprising results. Not only were the results surprisingly consistent, but a significant number of users did not even subscribe to a video streaming service. More than one in five of our readers or 21% of those surveyed do not have a video streaming subscription on a platform. It was also the most popular option among the six options.
About 17% of readers subscribe to at least one service, but Goldilocks number is three. Just over 20% of respondents subscribe to three video streaming services. However, some go a step further. While 13.6% of readers stated that they subscribe to four streaming services, almost 12.5% subscribed to “five or more”.
For the most popular services, Netflix was featured prominently in the comments, with Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV Plus, and HBO Max also being mentioned. Several users also subscribe to BritBox to experience UK TV shows.
You told us that
- Peter Turner: Netflix, Britbox and Amazon Prime Video.
- Montisaquadeis: Personally, none as I use my parents’ accounts.
- JL T0x: I currently have Netflix (longtime user), Hulu, Disney Plus and get free streaming access to HBOMax, OWN, Lifetime, ESPN, FX, MTV and 30 other networks via a separate cable / internet subscription with Spectrum. Endless content. The only media content that I would have to pay extra for is some of the latest in motion pictures.
- Mayyours Ransford: Netflix and Apple TV Plus.
- Konrad Uroda-Darłak: Netflix for Anime 🙂
- Tennis freak: Netflix and HBO Max (but that comes with my ATT phone plan).
If all of these companies keep pulling their shows out of thin air and putting them behind subscription paywalls, it will backfire. People don’t have unlimited money or don’t want to spend it on a dozen paid subscriptions. - Colin German: I subscribe to Netflix, Now TV and Britbox in the UK. Netflix has certain shows I want to watch, Now has others, and Britbox has BBC programs from my childhood like Doctor Who from the 1960s.
