Samsung last month announced an Android 11-based beta version for One UI 3.0 developers, available for the Galaxy S20 series. We haven’t heard about any specific features or change logs at this point, but we finally have a comprehensive list of additions and tweaks.
Twitter users Samsung Rydah (h / t: XDA developer) today released a One UI 3.0 Changelog that is an extremely comprehensive list. Check out the list below.
Home screen
- Touch and hold and app to add an associated widget.
- Turn off the screen by double-tapping an empty area of the home screen (Settings> Advanced Features> Motions and Gestures)
Lock screen
- The dynamic lock screen now has multiple categories and you can choose from several.
- Lockscreen widgets have been improved.
Quick Panel
- It’s more convenient to see your conversations and media in their own sections by swiping down from the top of the screen.
AOD
- Always-on widgets are improved.
Accessibility
- Get quick access to the most important accessibility settings during device configuration.
- Get recommended accessibility based on your usage.
- Make it easier to set the accessibility shortcut in the settings.
- Sound detectors now work with your SmartThings devices such as televisions and lights to make you more visible when the doorbell rings or the baby is crying.
Samsung keyboard
- Keyboard settings are easier to find under General Management in Settings, and settings have been reorganized to put the most important ones first.
Samsung Dex
- You can now wirelessly connect to supported TVs.
- The new multi-gesture touchpad makes it easier to change the screen zoom and font size.
Internet
- Added the ability to prevent websites from redirecting you when you tap the back button.
- Alerts and blocking options have been added for websites with too many popups or notifications.
- Reorganized menus to make it easier to find.
- Several new add-ons have been added, including one that translates websites.
- Added option to hide the status bar for an even more immersive browsing experience.
- The maximum number of open tabs has been increased to 99.
- Added ability to lock and rearrange tabs.
- Improved design for the tab bar, now supported on all devices.
- Ended support for Samsung Internet Edge Panel.
Contacts and phone
- The ability to edit multiple linked contacts at the same time has been added.
- An option has been added that allows you to quickly delete duplicate contacts.
- Improved the search experience.
- The storage time for the trash has been extended from 15 to 30 days.
Phone / call background
- The ability to customize the call screen with your own pictures and videos has been added.
Messages
- Creates a recycle bin to store recently deleted messages.
Call and text on other devices
- The ability to turn calls and text on or off on other devices with Bixby routines has been added.
calendar
- Events with the same start time are now shown together in the Month and Agenda views.
- Reorganized options for adding and editing events.
- Improved layout for full screen warnings.
memory
- Improved layout for full screen warnings.
Digital wellbeing and parental controls
- Trends added to your weekly report. You can see how your usage has changed since the last week and check your usage time for each feature.
- Added phone usage time while driving to your weekly report.
- A lock screen widget has been added that allows you to check screen time without unlocking your phone.
- Separate personal and work mode profiles have been added so you can keep track of your screen time separately.
camera
- Improved autofocus and exposure functions and usability.
- Improved stabilization when photographing the moon at high zoom levels.
Photo editor
- The ability to reset edited images to their original versions has been added.
Bixby routines
- Grouped preset routines help you get started quickly and create your own routines quickly.
- You can now see what actions will be undone when a routine ends.
- New conditions have been added, e.g. For example, a specific start time, disconnection of a Bluetooth device or a Wi-Fi network, a call from a specific number, and much more.
- New promotions have been added, including conversations with Bixby and accessibility promotions.
- You can add a custom icon for each routine and add routines to the lock screen for quick access.
According to the screenshot of the Twitter user, the update weighs 2.5 GB. If you have a restricted mobile data plan, you may want to connect to Wi-Fi. The update also includes the security patch for September 2020.
There’s still no word on a timeline for a stable release of Samsung One UI 3.0 or a definitive list of supported devices. A variety of Samsung devices can now be upgraded with Android versions for three years, from flagships as of 2019 to several Galaxy A-series phones. So you can bet these devices are on the list.
