You are back for the second round.

Warner Bros.

Henry Cavill was an integral part of the Snyder Cut saga after attending the quarantine guard party where Zack Snyder dropped the massive news his director’s cut from Justice League would release on HBO Max next year. Snyders Superman has now shared some of his feelings for the film in an interview with Variety that was released on Wednesday (read more here).

“I’m just very happy that Zack was able to realize his vision,” said Cavill. “I think it’s important for a filmmaker and storyteller to publish their intended vision and show it to the world, and I’m looking forward to seeing them for myself. It was quite an ordeal.”

Read more about The Snyder Cut below, including a simple overview of what it is exactly.

What is the Snyder Cut?

In short, The Snyder Cut is a version of the Justice League 2017, created by director Zack Snyder. His attitude to the blockbuster of the superhero ensemble never made it to the cinemas after he had to resign in the final stages of the project.

After the main photography was completed in late 2016, Warner Bros. executives reportedly saw a rough cut of Snyder’s footage and, unsatisfied, wanted changes. But in 2017, Snyder resigned during the editing process to handle his daughter’s death.

Joss Whedon was in charge of the editing and re-recording, but was not directed, which indicated that the finished product contained most of Snyder’s original material.

However, several plot lines were abandoned and the running time was shortened from three and a half hours to 120 minutes. Snyder estimated that the film we saw in the cinemas contained “a quarter” of his contribution.

While we will probably never learn the hard facts about what happened behind the scenes of the film, which was torn to pieces by critics and disappointed at the box office, at least we’ll finally see how big the differences between the films are The Two Versions really are.

First teaser

After the exciting news came DC FanDome, a free virtual convention, to take place in August, Snyder teased What he will bring to his panel: footage from the Snyder Cut.

“Take a look at JL for the first time. Get ready for more at the DC FanDome,” Snyder tweeted on June 17, along with a clip of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman that revealed a mural of the evil Darkseid.

The free virtual 24-hour conference will take place online here on August 22nd at 10 a.m. In the website’s Hall of Heroes section, the new content and panels will feature the cast of Wonder Woman 1984, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (which is a big deal to watch out for), Aquaman, The Snyder Cut and more to be seen.

What will be different

It will look better

When comparing the Justice League’s early trailers to the final theatrical version (via slash film), fans found that a bright orange sky had been added to the final climate battle. A fan asked Snyder on social media if the color correction for The Snyder Cut would change. Snyder simply replied “yes”, which could mean that his version captures its characteristic cold and steel tones.

A “radical rethink” and more than $ 30 million

Snyder’s original crew was gathered to cut the footage with a different score, finished visual effects, and additional actor dialogues to fill in the blanks. All of this could cost up to $ 30 million, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

However, the head of HBO Max and WarnerMedia Bob Greenblatt suggested that the completion of the film would cost a lot more. In an interview, he explained that The Snyder Cut “does not exist” because Snyder is still building the “wildly expensive” film, a “radical rethink” of the 2017 version.

Here are his full comments:

“It was months of discussions with Zack and the producers to find out how to do it,” Greenblatt said in the Recode Media podcast. “Because it’s not so easy to just go to the vault and there is a Snyder Cut to delete … it doesn’t exist. Zack actually builds it and it’s complex. Including – and I don’t want to get it.” too many details that we haven’t talked about yet – but new effects shots. It’s a radical rethink of this film and it’s complicated and incredibly expensive, of course a number that I’m not going to quote … I’m just saying I wish it was only $ 30 million … It’s an enormous undertaking and very complex. “

New characters

Snyder fell in January a silent from his original material with Ryan Choi, also known as Atom. The ingenious size shifter, as well as Martian Manhunter, The Green Lantern and Darkseid were all considered by Snyder to be what you would get in their slimmed down version.

Since then, Snyder has dropped an up-to-date picture (albeit a blurry one) of Darkseid, a tyrant who rules the hell planet Apokolips. “He’s coming … to HBO Max,” Snyder tweeted.

It has long been rumored that Ray Porter had completed language work for the character until the villain, along with several other characters, was left in Joss Whedon’s theatrical version. We have to wait a year to see how his shot alongside Ciaran Hinds’ villain Steppenwolf affects the overall structure of the film.

Porter confirmed his involvement in the film on Twitter: “I played Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. There. It’s out now.”

A mini series

That’s a lot of characters. To ensure that Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg have enough time to build their characters, the reporter says there could be a miniseries or six “chapters” on the cards. (The other rumored option is a four-hour director’s cut, but let’s not promote that.)

Another end credits scene

In the credits of the theatrical version, Deathstroke Lex Luthor, a swordsman wielding swords, joins in to found his own league of the just. Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello suggested seeing another scene related to Deathstroke’s involvement in Ben Affleck’s canned Batman film.

But no margin

Given the different scenes and characters, everything sounds like the cast is about to re-record (after the lock). However, this possibility seems to have been exploited confidently.

“There will be no new recordings with actors,” film reporter Umberto Gonzalez said in a podcast for The Wrap in May. Gonzalez is the founder of Heroic Hollywood and was one of the first to hear rumors of the release of The Snyder Cut.

“It’s just an additional dialogue. Here’s something that hasn’t been reported yet: [Snyder] wanted to take pictures and he wanted to do additional photography, but HBO Max said no, that doesn’t happen. We’ll give you money for post-production, special effects, scoring, and even ADR, but no new shots in this film. “

Why is it such a big deal?

Members of the cast, from Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Henry Cavill (Superman) to Jason Momoa (Aquaman), have all gathered behind The Snyder Cut, along with a long-time fan campaign on social media, in the Warner Bros. was asked to publish it. After turning #ReleaseTheSnyderCut on and off for one year recently in the run-up to the Justice League’s two-year anniversary on Twitter.

In response to this massive support, WarnerMedia Entertainment Chairman (owned by HBO Max) Robert Greenblatt released the following statement:

“Since I was here 14 months ago, the vocals for #ReleaseTheSnyderCut have been a daily drum beat in our offices and inboxes. Well, the fans asked and we are thrilled to finally deliver. At the end of the day it is really all great to be able to release Zack’s ultimate vision for this film in 2021. Without the hard work and effort of the teams from HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures, this would never have been possible. “”

Snyder also announced the big news to fans when he saw his Man of Steel quarantine party.

“I would like to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this courageous gesture to support artists and realize their true visions. Special thanks also go to all those involved in the SnyderCut movement who have achieved this.”

When and where will it come out?
