Google’s Pixel 5 get reverse wireless charging and 5G for $699 – ProWellTech

Here it is, the centerpiece of this morning’s confusing Launch Night In. The pixel 5 is Google newest mobile flagship. The new handset is launched months after the budget-conscious Pixel 4a (and on the same day as the Pixel 4a 5G) and features a 100% recycled aluminum body to set the new phone apart from the rest of the range. This is coupled by 8GB of RAM and the addition of wireless reverse charging.

Reverse wireless charging is probably the most interesting hardware addition here – and the one that didn’t leak like crazy. This feature, already available on other Android devices like Samsung’s flagship, allows users to charge devices (like the new and very good Pixel Buds) using the device’s built-in battery.

The specs are now live the product page (where you can currently pre-order the device). As is common with Google mobile devices, basically all leaks have been proven to be true. There’s a 6-inch display with a punch selfie on top.

Inside, you get a Snapdragon 765G (which brings the 5G) coupled with 8GM RAM and 128GB storage. There’s also a healthy 4,000 mAh battery on board that fixes the biggest problem with the Pixel 4. Be aware, however, that 5G connectivity can be a daunting problem.

The product could be considered a bit mid-range on most lines and frankly the line between this product and the new 5G version of the 4a is pretty blurry.

There’s a single 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 12-megapixel and 16-megapixel ultrawide on the back. As always, the great camera progress is made by software. Imagine’s new features include night vision in portrait mode, portrait lighting to illuminate subjects, and an improved editing tool in Google Photos.

It’s likely that this will be the last Google device to maintain this trend thanks to a recent reorganization of the department aimed at juicing declining device sales.

The new phone is available in two colors named by Googley – “Just Black” and “Sorta Sage” (a pale green). It is available for pre-order now and will be available in nine countries starting October 15th.
