According to a new FCC list, Google is working on a new mysterious “wireless streaming device”.
The device with the model number G3AL9 is characterized by Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth support. Power is supplied via a 3.65 V battery or a direct 5 V AC / DC input. This could indicate a portable streaming device with its own power supply and battery backup. Interesting, 9to5Google Note that the FCC ID label is only on the back of the device, which may indicate the lack of a special indicator to display the label.
In the listing, many details of the product are kept secret, so not much else is known beyond these features. Google’s confidentiality agreement doesn’t end until September. That may indicate a launch window later this year.
September is also a traditional starting month for Google. Last year, the company announced the Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, the Nest Audio speaker, and its new Chromecast with Google TV. This new streaming device could be a continuation of the latter.
Ultimately, there is no definitive evidence that the product is a dongle, smart speaker, or anything else in the Nest family (e.g. a camera). So we just have to wait and see what happens next.
