Today Google introduced a new feature for its search product. Called Hum to Search, you can decipher a song by simply humming the melody into your phone.
Previously, the Google Assistant could quickly decipher songs that were playing around you. All you had to do was say, “Hey Google, what kind of song is that?” and it would listen and let you know Now you don’t even need the song – just do your best to hum what you know and Google will do its best to bring it together.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because SoundHound has had this feature for years. However, it is possible that the Google system is more accurate than SoundHound’s.
Search Sums: How It Works
If you have a song on your mind, here’s what it is:
- Launch the Google Assistant on your phone like you normally do.
- Once you’re open and ready for a voice command, say, “What kind of song is that?” or “What kind of song is that?”
- The assistant begins to listen. Do your best to hum the melody.
- If you do it well enough, Google should give you the correct answer.
Google’s Hum to Search is available in English for iOS and in over 20 languages for Android. It will
