TL; DR

  • Google is already releasing Android 12 Beta 4.1 in the fourth beta for Pixel phones.
  • The small update (~ 6 MB) brings some bug fixes, but no obvious new features.
  • This version brings us closer to the inevitable stable start of the operating system.

A few weeks ago, Google released the latest beta version of Android 12. The fourth full iteration of the beta program brought a handful of new features as well as many bug fixes.

Today the company released Android 12 Beta 4.1. As the name suggests, it’s a relatively minor update that simply fixes issues with the main beta starting up. With a size of just over 6MB, this is clearly not a big step forward.

So far, we haven’t seen any obvious changes to the operating system that we haven’t seen in Android 12 Beta 4. As such, we tend to believe this is just one final troubleshooting update as we get closer to the Android 12 Release Candidate – and finally to a stable launch.

If you have a Pixel smartphone with Android 12, just go to Settings> System> System update to get this new version. If you have a supported Pixel phone and want to try the latest version of Android, here are instructions.

We assume that Google will launch Android 12 in its stable form sometime in early to mid-September. For more information, click here.
