Google Play Music data will be deleted later this month 2

  • Google has warned users that their Play Music library and data will be deleted on February 24th.
  • The company states that users will still be able to transfer or download this data until then.

Google stopped its long-running Play Music service late last year and asked users to switch to YouTube Music instead. Since then, the company has allowed people to download their Play Music library and data, or transfer them to YouTube Music.

You may want to act quickly if you haven’t downloaded or transferred your data yet. Google sent an email to Google Play Music account owners this week warning users that their data will be deleted on February 24, 2021.

“That includes your music library with all uploads, purchases, and everything you’ve added from Google Play Music. After this date, it cannot be restored, ”an excerpt from the email said. Take a look at the screenshot below.

The email confirms whether users have already transferred to YouTube Music. However, you can still transfer or download your data and library through Google Takeout. The data downloaded through Takeout includes purchased / uploaded music, playlists, radio station metadata, and search / playback history.
