Android 11 Easter Egg 4

  • The release of Android 11 brought a number of additional features to Google Pixel owners.
  • The operating system now suggests apps, offers Smart Reply in chats and helps you make friends in the live view.
  • The upgrades reach pixel owners first, but should also be transferred to other devices.

Android 11 offers a variety of upgrades for virtually every supporting device. However, if you own a Pixel phone, there are some additional benefits. Google has detailed a number of “pixel-first” features that its phones achieve before any other.

Your phone can first make further recommendations. Android on the Pixel makes app suggestions based on your daily routines, which in theory makes it easier to plan your morning commute or relax at the end of the day. If you’re using Gboard in English, you’ll also get smart reply suggestions in chat apps to speed up general replies. Your Pixel also borrows a keyword from iOS with suggested folder names based on the apps it contains. Group your home exercise apps together and you might get a “fitness” label.

Other updates might be less noticeable, but still helpful. There are now easier ways to copy, paste, save, and share content, whether it’s text or a screenshot. You may have less trouble finding friends who shared their location. It is now possible to use Google Maps Live View with location sharing for a better visual reference point. You will receive augmented reality instructions that will point you in the right direction in this mode.

Android 11 hits Pixel devices starting today, so you won’t have to wait to try out the new additions.

Google hasn’t indicated when any of these features could hit third-party Android 11 phones. It could be weeks or months before you see these supplements elsewhere. Even so, it’s obvious that Android 11 will evolve over time when you have a non-Pixel handset.
