TL; DR

  • The official pages of the Pixel 6 series went live in eight countries.
  • This confirms that when the phones are launched, they will be available in at least all eight regions.
  • One of the largest smartphone markets in the world is currently missing from the list.

Google dropped a bomb yesterday when it revealed a number of official details about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Not only did we see what the phones will look like, but Google announced the name of its first custom SoC – the Google Tensor – and showcased some of its exciting features. Now, ahead of the Pixel 6 series’ fall launch, we have an idea of their worldwide availability thanks to some research from people on at XDA developer.

Official landing pages for the new Pixel smartphones have already gone live in eight countries. This suggests that Pixel 6 and 6 Pro would be available in at least all of these eight regions at launch.

The list is not that big and most of all India is missing. With the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 also failing to make it into the country, it’s not surprising that Google may skip India one more time for its new flagships. The company is likely to stick with its cheaper Pixel-a-series phones in India.

Of course, nothing is set in stone for now. Google could have planned a much wider availability for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. It could also be different start phases for different countries. We won’t know for sure about Google’s plans until the company officially announces them. For now, at least the people in the eight countries mentioned above can be happy to know that the first Google phones with their own chipset will land on their territory.
