Google Pixel 6 may use a GPU found in some Galaxy S21 models
Many expect Google’s Pixel 6 to use custom silicon, but how powerful will it be? Perhaps after today you have a clearer meaning. XDA reader akes29 A Google employee was found to have left a system log showing problems with a “P21” device, which is believed to be the Pixel 6 running a high-end Mali-G78 GPU is performed.
That gives the Pixel 6 the same GPU you’ll find in Exynos-based versions of the Galaxy S21, Mate X2, and other flagship phones. It is also pointed out that the upcoming handset will be significantly beefier than the Snapdragon 765G of its Pixel 5 predecessor with mediocre Adreno 620 graphics.

It is unclear how many cores P21 would have. Phone manufacturers can customize a Mali GPU to meet their performance and budget needs. It wouldn’t be surprising if Google were to use something in the Pixel 6 that is closer to the 14-core part of the S21 than a full 24-core implementation.
However, if the GPU leak is accurate, higher expectations are placed on the Pixel 6. The “Whitechapel” silicon (also known as GS101) could help pit it against the Galaxy S21, the next iPhone, and other premium phones coming this fall. And unlike previous high-end Pixels, there won’t be any complaints that Google uses chips found in phones that are several months old – even if the graphics technology is a bit familiar.
