Google Pixel 5a vs OnePlus Nord 2 with Speed Test G 1

Google Pixel 5a vs OnePlus Nord 2 with Speed Test G

OnePlus’ newest mid-ranger is the true sequel to last year’s OnePlus Nord. Meanwhile, Google’s newest budget / mid-ranger is the Pixel 5a. Both phones are in the same price range, but which one should you choose for raw performance? Our battle between Google Pixel 5a and OnePlus Nord 2 will answer that question.

Our own Gary Sims let the two phones compete against each other with his Speed Test G-Suite. It’s probably no surprise to know that the Nord 2 wins in virtually every category. It basically decimated the Pixel 5a. This is mainly because the processor is a specialized version of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200, while the processor of the Pixel 5a is the much weaker Snapdragon 765G.

However, the winner of the Google Pixel 5a vs. OnePlus Nord 2 may not have any bearing on your purchase decision. The Pixel 5a is only available in the US and Japan, while the Nord 2 is not available in the US. Hence, your location can be the only determining factor in which phone you get.

Also, remember that brute force is not everything. The camera software from Google, for example, is superior to that from OnePlus and the Pixel 5a has an IP rating that the Nord 2 does not have. However, if processing speed is all you care about, the Nord 2 is the definitive choice.
