Google Pixel 5 may soon gain smart Adaptive Sound feature

The upcoming decline in Google Pixel features could include a new toy for music lovers. The feature known as Adaptive Sound was discovered on a Google Pixel 5 by XDAAPK sleeves.
The feature confusingly shares its name with a Google Pixel Buds feature. While Adaptive Sound on the Buds automatically adjusts the volume to the environment of the wearer during operation, Adaptive Sound on Pixel phones optimizes the equalizer instead.
In simpler terms, this means that while music is playing on a Pixel phone, Adaptive Sound can increase the bass and treble in louder environments, or decrease both in quieter settings. The feature uses the phone’s microphone to “rate the acoustics in your area,” explains Google on the settings page. This information is used to adjust the equalizer accordingly.
Adaptive sound does not seem to turn on when the listener is using headphones or earphones. So this is just a system for enhancing the sound from the speaker of the phone. That’s a good thing. We list the Google Pixel 4 series among the smartphones with the best onboard speakers. It’s unclear whether these devices will feature alongside the Pixel 5 and likely the Pixel 4a 5G.
For those with privacy concerns, Google states that “all microphone audio is deleted shortly after it is recorded. It is processed locally and never leaves your device. “
The feature may be released on Google’s phones next week with the latest security patch.
