  • Google Photos adds search filter buttons that you can use to quickly find pictures and videos.
  • You can filter your library by image type and even by the presence of other people.
  • It seems to be introduced as a server-side update.

Powerful search functions are built into Google Photos. However, finding these features wasn’t easy when you had to type in the correct phrases frequently to find the snapshots you wanted. From here on, however, it should be easier than Android police learned that Google is rolling out search filters for its cloud photo app.

When you’re looking for a specific person, you can tap filters that will narrow the photo results down to a specific type of media or even pictures with other people. If you want to find pictures of you and a close group of friends, you don’t have to write a long search query to track them down.

The search function uses Google’s existing technology – it just isn’t as dependent on text queries.

Google’s new feature seems to be more of a server-side addition than an update to the Photos app. You may have to wait a while for the advanced photo search to appear on your phone. In this case, however, you should find it easier to wade through a large library to find a favorite store.
