Google's new Nest Audio smart speaker

  • Google’s new Nest speaker was released in a retail listing.
  • The smart speaker appears to be a replacement for the original Google Home.
  • A reliable tipster suggests it will cost $ 99.99.

We got our first glimpse into Google’s new Nest Smart Speaker back in August. The company itself announced an official teaser Android Authority and a few other publications, but we didn’t know much about it at the time other than the design. Now the Nest Audio has been listed on retailer Lowe’s website with multiple pictures and some specs. It was recently too Discovered by a Twitter user in a Walmart store.

Google Nest Audio looks like a smaller version of the Google Home Max. According to the retail list, it’s 6.89 “tall, 4.8” wide, and 3.07 “thick. It also weighs just over 1kg, making it heavier than the 180g Nest Mini but lighter than the 4kg Google Home Max.

The intelligent speaker retains Google’s signature fabric mesh design. It will also appear to remain tied to a cable. So don’t expect a battery-powered Google smart speaker just yet. The power connector, the Google logo and a microphone kill switch are on the back.

Google Nest Audio pricing and availability

According to Tip from Roland QuandtGoogle Nest Audio is priced at $ 99.99 in the US. So it’s priced somewhere between the Nest Hub and the Nest Hub Max. Of course, the Nest Audio doesn’t have a screen, so it’s not really comparable to the Nest Hubs. The new speaker is more of a replacement for the original Google Home, which is no longer in production, and a cheaper alternative to the Google Home Max for $ 299.

The Nest Audio is slated to be released on September 30th at Google’s Pixel unveiling event. It will be unveiled along with Google’s new Chromecast with Google TV and the new Pixel phones. You can expect it to go on sale with the other new Google hardware, or likely sooner.
