Google Fi turns 6 and gets a new unlimited plan – ProWellTech
Google FiGoogle’s cellular network is six years old today. To celebrate, the team is launching a new pricing plan called “Simply Unlimited,” which starts at $ 60 per month for a single line (up to $ 30 per line for 3 lines or more). The new plan offers unlimited calling and SMS in the US, and unlimited data and SMS messaging in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
You may recall that Fi’s original promise was a single, affordable, pay-as-you-go plan where you pay a fixed price per month for basic calling and SMS service and then pay an additional $ 10 per GB of data you per Have used billing cycle, limited to $ 80 per month. Then in 2019, Google turned this into a substantially unlimited plan called Fi Unlimited, which starts at $ 70 per month for a single line, with discounts for additional lines.
The new ‘Simply Unlimited’ plan is a scaled-down version of the original Unlimited plan, now known as the Unlimited Plus plan (yes, that is a lot of names). Now, this plan has a lot of extra features that power users probably won’t be willing to give up for a slightly lower price. In addition to everything in the new Simply Unlimited plan, this plan continues to offer free international calls to 50+ countries and international data to 200+ destinations, as well as full-speed hotspot tethering and 100GB of Google One cloud storage.
The flexible tariff is still an option. The base fee is $ 20 per month for text messages and calls for a single line (up to $ 17 per month for three lines) and $ 10 per GB of data, whether you’re overseas or overseas use at home – or for hotspot tethering. Google says this is the plan to choose if you have WiFi primarily – like most of us do right now.
If you don’t plan on using your phone outside of North America, the new Simply Unlimited tariff seems like good deal which, depending on the use case, compares favorably to other carrier’s tariffs with similar prices – especially when it comes to international data is important to you.
