Google’s unlimited free meet video calls to Gmail accounts last for months. The internet pioneer has expanded (via Neowin) the unlimited chats from the original expiration date of September 30th to March 31st, 2021. Free calls were previously limited to one hour each.
Google simply admits that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will continue for a while. According to Google, many people have no choice but to celebrate holidays and attend events online. Unlimited meet calls ensure they can stay in touch for months to come.

The company pointed out that Meet has grown in recent months, including Chromecast-based calling on your TV and background blur effects to hide your troubles at home. Video chats for Gmail account holders are limited to 50 users, but all G Suite and Education customers can have up to 250 participants and record their calls.
The move is intended to make Meet competitive with video chat competitors like Zoom and Facebook Messenger Rooms. If Google didn’t offer unlimited free calls, there was a risk of losing otherwise loyal Meet users. This isn’t necessarily going to draw you to Meet, but it could make you invest when you have a choice of platforms to host your virtual conversations with.
