Google Camera 8.1 starts rolling out to older Pixels, Cinematic Pan in tow
- Google appears to be releasing the Google Camera 8.1 update for older pixels.
- The update includes a new user interface and cinematic pan functionality.
The Pixel 5 offers a redesigned Google Camera experience, including a new user interface and a few additional features. Now it looks like the update will finally be rolled out to older Pixels via the Play Store.
Twitter user Kelvin Peralta Approved You can get Google Camera 8.1 on your Pixel 4 XL from the Play Store and publish a screenshot of the updated camera app. You can check out the screen below.
The update brings the Cinematic Pan feature and the aforementioned new user interface to the Pixel 4 XL, but there’s no word on whether Night Sight Portrait is also available. Even so, Cinematic Pan is one of the most notable features of the Pixel 5 camera that allows for smooth panning of video.
We haven’t received the Google Camera 8.1 update for our standard Pixel 4 yet. Google will probably do a small rollout before it is made available to more users. in addition, Android police reports that the APK sideload not working without jumping through a few hoops. Maybe all you have to do is sit tight and wait for Google to hit that button.
