Gimbal camera returns, now with Carl Zeiss
- Vivo introduced the Vivo X60 series in China.
- The two phones share many functions.
- Expect the X60 Pro Plus to launch in late January.
The Vivo X50 series was in some ways a step up for the brand as the Vivo X50 Pro in particular provided a micro-gimbal camera setup. This led to excellent image quality in poor lighting conditions and smooth video recording.
Vivo confirmed that the X60 series would be out before the end of the year, adding that it would offer a camera setup that was developed in partnership with Carl Zeiss. Today is the day the company launched the X60 and X60 Pro in China.
Vivo X60 Series: What To Expect?
The two Vivo phones have several functions, such as: B. an ExC 1080 SoC of the upper mid-range, 33 W charging and a 6.56-inch FHD + 120 Hz OLED panel with a centrally mounted hole cutout (with a 32 megapixel sensor). The company has also touted a camera system that was developed in collaboration with Zeiss, and the two phones share functions in that department as well.
Expect a 48-megapixel camera on both phones with a second-generation micro-gimbal setup, a 13-megapixel 2x portrait lens, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide shooter (120-degree field of view). However, the Vivo X60 Pro also has an 8 megapixel 5x periscope zoom lens with up to 60x digital zoom. Interestingly, the brand also adds a feature that can restore black and white photos and colorize those snaps.
Other notable shared features include a built-in fingerprint sensor, camera-based face unlock, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, and Vivo’s OriginOS Android skin.
Otherwise, the two phones differ in several other areas: The Pro has a 4,200 mAh battery compared to the slightly larger 4,300 mAh battery of the standard model and a curved display compared to the flat screen of the vanilla version. The X60 Pro also has a glass back with a so-called satin finish that does not attract fingerprint grease. In addition, the 48-megapixel main camera of the Pro version offers a large aperture of 1: 1.48 compared to the aperture of 1: 1.79 of the standard version.
Expect 3,498 yuan (~ $ 536) for the 8GB / 128GB Vivo X60, 3,798 yuan (~ $ 581) for the 8GB / 256GB option, and 3,998 yuan (~ $ 612) for the 12GB / 256GB -Variant. Meanwhile, the Vivo X60 Pro will retail for 4,498 yuan (~ $ 689) for the only 12GB / 256GB variant.
There’s no word on the global availability of these phones, but Vivo confirmed on Weibo that the X60 Pro Plus will be launched in late January 2021. The company pointed to a Snapdragon 800 series processor in tow, presumably the Snapdragon 888 SoC.
