- A new rumor has it that the next phone in the Galaxy Z Flip lineup could be the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
- This would mean there wouldn’t be a Galaxy Z Flip 2.
- Technically, this would be the third phone with a Z-Flip name, so this makes sense. It would also bring name parity to the Galaxy Z line.
Samsung has been messing around with phone names quite a bit lately. First, the naming convention for the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines was changed by jumping from 10 to 20. The name Samsung Galaxy Fold was then deleted when the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 started.
Now it looks like Sammy could change the naming formula for his other foldable device, the Galaxy Z Flip. According to a rumor Let’s go digitalSamsung could launch the next flip as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
If this were true, it would mean there wouldn’t be a Galaxy Z Flip 2. It would jump straight to three.
Realistically, this makes a lot of sense. Tech-wise, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip device is the third in the line, with the first being the Galaxy Z Flip and the second being the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. Second, a name change would prevent the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 from launching right next to a Galaxy Z Flip 2. Both would be “3” which would be less confusing for consumers.
However, this is just a rumor for now. So don’t take it to the bank just yet. However, it seems entirely plausible.
We expect the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 (if so) as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to hit the market this July.
