Galaxy S21 phones let you add custom backgrounds to video calling apps

With the Galaxy S21 range making its way to consumers tomorrow, those who already have the phones will continue to find little new features that Samsung has added to its latest flagships. One of them that was discovered by Android policeThis option allows you to add custom background effects to video calling apps, including Google Duo, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco Webex.
Once you have an S21, you can enable the feature by scrolling down to Advanced Features in the Settings menu and then tapping on Video Call Effects. At this point, if you are using a video calling app, you will see a floating menu in the top right corner of the screen that allows you to blur and colorize the background as well as choose a custom picture. Android police reports that the tool can produce choppy results. So don’t expect a better result than apps that offer this functionality natively.

Given that we all depend on video calling apps, it’s easy to see why Samsung decided to come up with such a feature. And it’s nice to have access in an emergency.
