Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra as one of its models new touch phones on August 5th – that is, if the growing rumors are correct. The whispering about an extra-large version of the Note 20, known as the Note 20 Ultra, has been popping up and down at regular intervals. Now a well-known Twitter leaker with a series of photos and technical data convincingly claims that the Ultra is real. As always, until the official announcement from Samsung, nothing goes without saying.
If this is the case, Samsung would also introduce the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in addition to other Note 20 variants Rumor has it that Galaxy Fold 2 and a 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Note 20 phones will hit stores on August 20, 2020. (Samsung loves a good pattern.)
It’s a complicated time to start the phone. Coronavirus cases are growing in the the USA and around the world, with an increase in new cases at Samsung’s home base in South Korea, the Associated Press reported. Meanwhile, Black Lives Matter protesters around the world gathered to demonstrate against racism and police brutality. And the global economy is “in the worst recession in almost a century,” said the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
In this uncertain climate, speculation still suggests that Samsung will launch a reveal, despite the company refusing to comment on the rumor.
How the Galaxy Note 20 is received is less certain – both as a device and as a higher-priced phone in these difficult times. The Note line is well established as a Samsung brand for power users, but that’s the reality Telephone sales are declining as a result of COVID-19, while the severity of Global recession keep climbing.

New photo leaks: Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is real?
Twitter leaker Ice Universe dropped a bomb on June 18 with photos, specs, and even a 26-second video attributed to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Overall, the images show a device with two curved screens, whisper-thin bezels to free up maximum screen space, and an overall somewhat thinner body compared to the Galaxy Note 10 Plus.
Confirmed: Samsung admitted that the “Galaxy Note 20” exists
Without revealing the device name, Samsung announced in April that it was making another touch phone. What we don’t officially know … is everything else. The company hasn’t released the name – we’re dealing with Galaxy Note 20 in this article – price, announcement date, camera configuration, or new pen tricks.
Start date August 5 and sale date August 20
Will the corona virus delay Samsung’s launch of the Galaxy Note 20? Not according to the latest rumor that Samsung will try to save the remains of the year by pushing ahead with its plans.
If Samsung follows its historic pattern and introduces the Galaxy Note 20 family in August, the unpacked event will certainly be virtual in most countries given the various lockdowns. A Korea Herald report suggests the same (via Google Translate). Competitors such as Apple, Huawei and OnePlus have also hosted their phone launches online due to the pandemic.
The annual unveiling of almost all touch phones in August is of strategic importance. It is planned in advance of the launch of the iPhone in autumn by Apple and prepares Samsung for the holiday frenzy. Rumor has it that Apple can Postpone the release of the iPhone 12 until October as a result of the corona virus.
New phones: Note 20, 20 Plus, Note 20 Ultra?
Samsung unleashed this last year Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 plus. It would be unusual not to see two new bonds this year. Numerous rumors support the expectation of a Note 20, Note 20 Plus and Note 20 Ultra.
Up to the tweets from Ice Universe (above), it was not certain whether there would be a Note 20 Ultra in the future to reflect this Galaxy S20 Ultra. Some rumors promoted it, while others withdrew. For example, an unknown device that some believe will be launched alongside the Galaxy Note 20 phones could actually be that Galaxy Fold 2According to a previous TechRadar post, a tweet from display analyst Ross Young was quoted that is now unavailable. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra would be a direct hit with a screen over 7 inches in diagonal.
Here are some possible screen sizes for Note 20 with details from Pigtou, Phone Arena and Ice Universe, citing additional tweets from Young that are no longer available (SamMobile published the text here):
- Galaxy Note 20: 6.4 to 6.7 inches (From Young: 6.42 inches, 2,345 x 1,084 pixels resolution)
- Galaxy Note 20 Plus: 6.9 inches (from Pigtou: 165 millimeters high, 77.2 mm wide and 7.6 mm thick)
- Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Over 7 inches (QHD + screen and 120Hz option can be turned on at the same time.)
Ultra-fast 120 Hz screen can save more battery than the S20 Ultra
If the high-end Galaxy S20 phones have a 120 Hz screen, it’s a good bet that the Note 20 phones will have that too. Phones with high screen refresh rates are a trend in the premium market. Any screen with the option to update every pixel more frequently than the usual 60 Hz (60 times per second) promises smooth scrolling and gameplay.
Ice Universe, a common phone lick, suggests a “fine-tuned” version of the feature. The Danish blog Galaxy Club goes a little deeper and suggests that the update uses 15% to 20% less energy than the Galaxy S20 Ultra, a phone whose test device swallowed the battery in 120 Hz mode instead of sipping it. Here you can find more information about the battery-saving 120 Hz display technology called LTPO.
5G Galaxy Note 20 is practically a matter of course
We hardly need a rumor to be sure that the Galaxy Note 20 line supports 5G speeds. The Galaxy S20 phones do this with one limitation. There are some variants of the standard S20 that are only 4G LTE-capable in certain regions such as Australia.
Some network operators in some regions may also sell a 4G LTE version of the standard Galaxy Note 20, e.g. For example, if the region is still building its 5G networks or if the network operator prefers a cheaper 4G version for its portfolio. We strongly believe that these devices will be known and marketed as 5G devices worldwide.
Here is where US 5G plans are nowand advice on choosing the best 5G network operator for you.
Last year’s cell phone was the Galaxy Note 10. Why is that the Note 20?
Precedents are pretty much every reason to assume that the Note 20 is what Samsung calls this phone – just look at the Galaxy S20 line. However, a precedent would also suggest that we would see the Galaxy S11 and Note 11. Samsung has changed its naming convention to match the year. For this reason, we could expect the Galaxy S21 and the Note 21 in 2021. I can not wait any longer Samsung Galaxy Note 32!
It could look exactly like the Galaxy S20, only more square and with a pen
The suggestion that the Note 20 could be very similar to the Galaxy S20 – but with angular edges and the S Pen pen – comes up again and again and reproduces the Samsung pattern for several cycles. Here’s why. The Note series is based on the Galaxy S. If the S20 Ultra has four rear-view cameras, the chicest Note 20 fits or surpasses it.
Samsung has sometimes used the Note to introduce an even higher quality hardware or software feature that helps differentiate it from the “more accessible” Galaxy S and justifies the higher price of the new Note.
The frequent Twitter leaker Max Weinbach put it bluntly: “Basically everything is the same.”
Note 20 cameras: 100x room zoom or no?
Now we come to one of my favorite topics: telephone specifications. Will the Galaxy Note 20 series have a 100x zoom or not? The answer to this question has an interesting advantage. Samsung proudly announced the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 100x AI-assisted zoom called Space Zoom, a unique product in the S20 range and one of the features designed to justify the phone’s stratospheric price.
If Samsung doesn’t include Space Zoom, as the Twitter leakers Ice Universe and Sleepy Kuma (via the Korea Joongang Daily) seem to suspect, this could be seen as a rare admission of a defeat at the end of Samsung that its marquee function didn’t do the right thing Notes.
It should be noted that many of the rumor-ridden image renders and alleged leaks from case designs have square cutouts for large camera shocks that resemble those of the Galaxy S20 series.
So what cameras could we see? According to the Korea Joongang Daily and Ice Universe (via the Weibo Chat app):
- Galaxy Note 20: 12-megapixel wide-angle (main), 64-megapixel telephoto, 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle
- Galaxy Note 20 Plus: 108-megapixel (main), 12-megapixel telephoto, 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle. 50x zoom. Laser focus can help fine-tune focus for close-ups (a problem with the Galaxy S20 phones).
Winebach also agrees that the Note 20 Plus will have a 108 megapixel sensor.
What about the front camera?
Rumor has it that the Galaxy Note 20 could use Samsung’s first camera under the display. If this is the case, it means that the sensor is not visible most of the time. You may only “see” the sensor if you are using an app that works with the camera, for example to indicate where to look when you take a selfie or video chat.
Battery, processor, memory size, RAM of the Galaxy Note 20
We have compiled some possible specifications based on various rumors, including from ZDNet Korea, Phone Arena and Galaxy Club.
- processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, Samsung Exynos 990 or Exynos 992
- Internal memory: 128 GB or 256 GB
- R.A.M.: 8 GB, 12 GB, 16 GB
- battery: Note 20: 4,000 mAh. Note 20 Plus: 4,500 mAh
Android 10 for now, Android 11 follows
We don’t even need a rumor to know that the Galaxy Note 20 will initially ship with Android 10 and upgrade to Android 11. This is because Android 11 is in beta and is not ready for prime time.
in addition, Google has postponed its virtual event to June 3rd in response to that Protests that swept the United States on May 26th. The software giant intended to make Android 11 Beta available to all Android users, not just developers, as it is now – a crucial step before the final software update is released.
Android 11 may or may not be ready for network operators, but Samsung, which uses a complex software layer above the Android base, usually takes more time than other phone brands to fully test and release new versions of Android.
Price: How much could the Galaxy Note 20 cell phones cost?
Galaxy Note phones are not for price-conscious buyers. At least the lineup has been like this since its inception. I would expect Note 20 and Note 20 Plus to largely follow last year’s pricing structure.

In context, two things have changed over the past year to make the Note series more affordable and, as Samsung certainly hopes, more accessible.
The first thing that happened was that the standard Note 10 started at a cheaper price of $ 950, compared to the starting price of $ 1,000 for the Note 9. (Meanwhile, the Note 10 Plus debuted $ 1,100.) Samsung didn’t give the Note 10 quite as well. Many extras as the plus, but the price tag below $ 1,000 made it a better value overall.
Samsung ‘s second decision was the announcement of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite in January. The phone, which was never intended for the U.S. market, still seemed significant to me, suggesting that Samsung might be ready for it Change one or two “rules”.
At the time, I said, “Samsung’s impulse to create a ‘Lite’ note completely reverses what the Note calls the best of the best in the brand. Samsung is also democratizing by making a cheaper, more basic note the grade The clearest and most lasting feature: the digital pen. ”
Does that mean Samsung will surprise us with a Galaxy Note 20 Lite? Probably not at this event. However, there is a possibility that the standard Note 20 will again cost around $ 950. With the addition of 5G, which tends to drive up costs, the final cost of Note 20 is still uncertain.
