Fossil confirms premium smartwatch with new Wear OS will launch this fall
Fossil is one of the biggest proponents of Google’s Wear OS platform. Some of the best Wear OS smartwatches out there right now – the Fossil Gen 5 and the Skagen Falster 3 – are made by the company or its sub-brands. So it’s only natural that Google’s revamped Wear OS software should end up on a Fossil wearable.
In an interview with CNET, Fossils Chief Commercial Officer Greg McKelvey and Senior VP of Connected Devices Steve Prokup confirmed that the brand will launch a high-end smartwatch with the new Wear OS version from Google and Samsung.
The company’s first wearable to use the revamped Wear OS would be the Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch. It will kick off this fall with “some pretty big hardware upgrades,” Prokup confirmed.
The report goes on to say that Fossil will have a single flagship smartwatch in the new wave of Google watches. The other brands would likely develop their own versions with the new Wear OS on board.
Unfortunately, Fossil won’t update its existing Wear OS devices with the new software.

What does Fossil’s new Wear OS smartwatch cost?
As for the pricing of the new Wear OS watch from Fossil, the company called the device “Premium”. This suggests that the new smartwatch may be more expensive compared to Fossil Gen 5.
“We offer our customers great brand design at a first-class price,” said McKelvey in an interview.
Regarding Fitbit’s presence on Wear OS, McKelvey said the integration will be “a huge improvement and something our customers will love”.
