Ford Mustang Mach-E will support Tesla-like over-the-air updates
Over-the-air updates are not uncommon these days, but Tesla is often the figurehead for this feature. The electric car maker very often releases new updates that range from performance improvements to performance improvements Karaoke Support via an OTA software update.
Ford is not left behind, and almost identical functions are described that come in its upcoming electric SUV, the Mustang Mach-E. On Tuesday, the automaker said OTA updates will be a big part of the SUV, noting that it’s almost certain that the Mustang Mach-E will have features it didn’t have when it left the factory.
The Blue Oval not only advertises the core technology, it also promises that these updates will take place frequently without the owner noticing a super seamless presentation. Mustang Mach-E drivers can set a specific time for the update, and installing many drivers takes less than two minutes. Some will even be available immediately when the driver silently starts the electric SUV.
When an update is complete, drivers always receive a notification in the car stating what has changed. These improvements can range from synchronization updates for infotainment to one of the many computers on board the Mustang Mach-E. According to Ford, almost every computer accepts wireless updates.
The first updates will come within six months of the Mustang Mach-E being produced, but what Ford has planned for them remains to be seen.
