First Casio Wear OS G-Shock watch announced
- The first Casio Wear OS watch in the G-Shock line is the GSW-H1000.
- The watch carries the ruggedness expected from a G-Shock watch, including a water resistance of 200m.
- Unfortunately, Casio didn’t reveal when you could get it and how much it would cost.
When it comes to badass watches, few brands live up to the reputation of Casio’s G-Shock line. Although Casio has put many smarts on these watches over the years, they have never become traditional smartwatches.
That is changing now. Today Casio announced that it will launch a G-Shock watch with Google’s Wear OS as its platform. This will combine the ruggedness of the G-Shock line – including water resistance of 20 bar (200 m) – with the versatility of the Wear OS platform.

The first Casio Wear OS G-Shock watch will be officially known as the GSW-H1000. There will be three models of the watch: the GSW-H1000-1 with blue accents (see image above), the GSW-H1000-1A with gray accents, and the GSW-H1000-1A4 with red accents.
Unfortunately, Casio has not announced a release date or price for this new line of watches.
Although Wear OS has a robust app library and good integration with Android phones, it requires very high quality hardware to function well and is pretty poor with battery life. It is currently unclear whether and how the Casio Wear OS G-Shock watch will fix these shortcomings.
