More and more of you are discovering that wonderful world of sim racingThe offers for home simulation devices are becoming more and more exciting. The newest? A special edition bike from Fanatec that brings a little Lamborghini home.
The Fanatec ClubSport F1 2020 steering wheel is a limited edition bike that is compatible with most of the company’s current wheelbase lines, including the CSL Elite, ClubSport V2 and V2.5, and the world-class Podium DD1 and DD2 units. It works with both the PC and PS4 – provided you have a PS4 compatible base. (We are sorry Xbox One Player, no love for this.)
The topic of conversation for the ClubSport steering wheel F1 2020 is definitely the forged carbon construction. The stuff is in the 5 mm thick front plate, which forms the core of the wheel, as well as on the magnetic paddles. The paddles are ready for immediate use and are available from ClubSport. However, buyers can switch to the Podium Advanced Paddle module with three paddles to get this cute F1-style hand clutch.
Forged carbon fiber is a characteristic aroma of the composite structure popular by Lamborghini, which has used the material extensively. It was first seen on the super exotic veneno in 2016, but has since then become (somewhat) more accessible models like that Huracan performante.
Where traditional carbon fibers are made from layers of woven film to give the motorsport fan the distinctive geometric look, forged carbon fiber is instead made of resin with fiber segments hanging in it. This slurry is then injected into a mold, resulting in a strong material that is much easier to manufacture. It also has a characteristic, almost urban camo look, which is probably more relevant for its application here.
The handles of the new ClubSport bike are made of perforated leather, accompanied by a large selection of buttons, multi-selector wheels, an analog thumb stick and Fanatec’s seven-way FunkySwitch. A total of 67 functions can be controlled, while an integrated OLED display and a row of LEDs ensure that you switch when you want.
Fanatec has not yet provided pricing or availability, but just to meet your expectations, the current ClubSport Formula bike costs a cool $ 370. Look for all the details shortly when the bike becomes official Debut tomorrow on Fanatec’s website.
