The alleged Android smartwatch from Facebook could be even more ambitious than initially assumed. The edge Sources claim that the Facebook watch will contain two detachable cameras – to share photos and videos on the social network, of course.
The custom Android wristband apparel was supposed to focus on a camera hub with a front sensor for video calls and a 1080p, autofocus-enabled second camera that could take photos and videos when removed. Facebook wants people to use the watch the way they would with a smartphone today, according to insiders. Third parties would build accessories to attach the camera hub to items like backpacks.
Accordingly, you may not need to pair the device with a phone. Facebook is said to have worked with major US carriers to both offer LTE data and sell the watch in stores. There would also be a fitness corner, complete with a heart rate monitor.

You may have to be patient. The Facebook watch wouldn’t be released until the summer of 2022, and the $ 400 price target could change. Future versions could control the company’s planned augmented reality glasses, the sources said.
Facebook has already declined to comment.
A clock sounds extreme, but it can make sense for Facebook. CEO Mark Zuckerberg allegedly sees hardware like this as a way of bypassing Apple and Google, both of which effectively dictate Facebook’s ability to distribute apps and collect data. In theory, Facebook could “bypass” these companies without worrying about restrictions like stricter privacy controls.
Despite this goal, Facebook may not have high sales expectations for the watch. It is assumed that the Facebook units will initially only be sold in the “low six-figure range,” said the contacts. The company has no plans to overthrow the Apple Watch, Wear OS, or any other platform if it does – rather, it would be a first foray that could lead to more hardware if successful.
