Facebook SDK bug may be responsible for popular apps crashing
Some popular apps, including TikTok and Spotify, crashed for many users on Wednesday afternoon, and the problem may be related to Facebook’s developer toolkit that third-party providers can work with Software programmers integrate their apps into the social network.
Users complained on Twitter that TikTok, Spotify, Tinder, and Pinterest didn’t work for them. Some people described apps crashing when they tried to start them.
The cause of the simultaneous malfunction of several important apps was not immediately clear, but some developers suggested that Facebook’s software development kit was to blame.
“Cool, there is a Facebook SDK issue where several high profile apps are crashing. Great idea to add this social login, right?” App developer Guilherme Rambo said in one Tweet.
Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
