Facebook launching TikTok-inspired Collab app
Facebook’s app-focused NPE team launched the Collab app, a TikTok-style app for making music with friends. According to a, Collab starts as a beta version only with an invitation for iOS publication by the NPE team. With Collab, users can create, view and mix original videos and music.
According to the publication, users do not need any musical experience to add their own recordings. With the app you can wipe and discover other videos that could complete your composition. Your creations can be shared across platforms and others can be combined with your creation. Think of it as digital Dadaism.
“Working together has made our team feel closer together, even though we are all separated, and we hope you will too,” said Brittany Mennuti, product manager at Facebook, in the press release.
Facebook will open invitations in batches, starting with people in the U.S. and Canada.
Collab seems to be Facebook’s newest project that helps people feel closer and have fun amid social distance contracts Coronavirus pandemic. The social media giant added Messenger rooms, a new video chat function that supports up to 50 people at the same time.
