  • Xiaomi announced six new products for India at its Smarter Living event.
  • Products include the new Mi Watch Revolve Smartwatch and the Mi Smart Speaker.

Xiaomi has launched its third annual Smarter Living event, which usually announces a range of technical products for the health and smart home sectors. This iteration is no different as the company had many products in these segments.

The teaser picture for the event pointed to several products, such as the Mi Band 5, a smartwatch and other home electronics. And these were actually represented at this event, along with a few surprises.

Xiaomi Mi Watch Revolve

According to Xiaomi, a new smartwatch was the most sought-after product from its fans in India.

The Mi Watch Revolve has a 46mm wide round stainless steel dial with two color options – midnight black chrome silver. An AMOLED display with 450 nits of brightness also offers a permanent option that remains activated while the watch is worn.

A Gorilla Glass 3 coating protects the display, while customers can choose between 112 dials and five wristbands made of silicone or leather.

The Xiaomi watch also has heart rate variability monitoring technology. Stress tracking and sleep tracking are also included. The watch also estimates users’ energy levels, a number calculated based on sleep, heart rate, and stress levels accumulated throughout the day.

For active users, the Mi Watch Revolve tracks 10 specialized sports disciplines, including running, cycling and swimming. The wearable also monitors users’ VO2 max levels, recovery time after exercise, and energy expenditure during exercise.

Other benefits include the water resistance of 5 ATMs, GPS and Glonass on board, and a 420 mAh battery that can deliver juice for up to two weeks.

The Mi Watch Revolve costs Rs 10,999 (~ $ 149) and is available from Xiaomi’s Xia Store, Amazon India and other stores.

Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5

We already covered the Mi Band 5 when it launched internationally, but the fifth iteration of the Mi Band finally has Indian pricing and availability.

In short, the 1.1-inch AMOLED portable display features five strap colors, lasts up to three weeks on a single charge, and now has a magnetic charge. It is also waterproof up to 50 meters, offers pack tracking for 11 training modes, sleep tracking, blood oxygen monitoring and a personal activity recommendation system. In particular, NFC doesn’t make the cut on the Indian model, but it does have music control smarts and a feature to find my phone.

The Mi Band 5 costs Rs 2,499 (~ $ 34) and will be available in Xiaomi’s Mi Stores and Amazon India from October 1st.

Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker

Another new segment for Xiaomi: the company believes it can offer a smart speaker that also focuses on sound quality.

These smarts are provided by the Google Assistant, but the device itself arguably looks a bit like a thick Amazon Echo with a light ring around the top. There are also touch control buttons at the top, as well as a microphone off option. There are also two far-field microphones on the roof. The speaker itself is surrounded by a metal grille that provides 360-degree audio from the 12W 63.5mm driver with DTS support. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity is also available.

The Mi Smart Speaker costs Rs 3,999 (~ $ 54) and will be available from October 1st through Mi Stores and Flipkart.

The other stuff

Mi Smart Light

The company’s smart LED bulbs are also connected to Google or Amazon’s smart ecosystems and can provide up to 810 lumens of brightness during their stated lifespan of 15,000 hours. They’ll be available in Mi Stores starting September 29th for Rs 499 (~ $ 7).

Mi sports shoes

Yes, Xiaomi is also launching new shoes. The kicks have a shock-absorbing sole, a breathable mesh body, are available in three colors and have reflective strips for night runners. They’ll cost Rs 1,499 (~ $ 20) per pair as of September 29th and will be sold in Xiaomi’s Mi Stores.

Wed automatic soap dispenser

Forget about flagship smartphones. 2020 will be the year remembered in the smart soap dispenser technology world. Xiaomi calls this product the “most advanced way to wash your hands” and it’s about as simple as it seems. The device has a motion sensor and will dispense soap within 0.25 seconds of being detected. Up to 300ml of liquid can also be stored, allowing users to do almost 400 hand washes. Starting September 29th, it will cost Rs 999 (~ $ 14) in Mi Stores.
