Everything Nintendo announced at the E3 2021 Direct

Despite so many announcements at E3 2021, no company is as in the spotlight as Nintendo. At the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct event, the company showed off a range of new games for its record breaking Nintendo Switch console.

In case you missed the event, you can watch it again here. It’s only about 40 minutes long. Immediately after it ends, a Nintendo Treehouse Live event will begin, giving you three hours of gameplay material for the games announced in the first part of the live stream.
We’ve saved you some time, however, as we’ve rounded up everything that was announced at the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct event! Read on to see it all.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
Fans hoping for specific information on the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were likely both excited and disappointed with the Nintendo E3 2021 event. While the company showed a ton of new footage, it also announced a release window for the game: 2022. Obviously, fans were hoping for a date in 2021, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
However, the new footage gives us a much better idea of what to expect. It looks like Link is taking to the clouds for this game that reminds us of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Perhaps not entirely by chance, this game is getting an HD remaster for the Nintendo Switch this year. Nintendo also showed off this game at the E3 event by giving us a better idea of how the controversial control system from the original Wii version is carried over to the Switch.
Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo will launch a new Game & Watch handheld system. The tiny console comes preinstalled with The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and the original Game Boy version of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. It will also include an updated version of the game Vermin with Link as the main character.
Nintendo didn’t reveal the price of the console, but the similar Game & Watch system for Super Mario Bros. was $ 50. However, Nintendo has announced the launch date: November 12, 2021.
Metroid Prime 4 / Metroid Dread
Nintendo annoyed us a few years ago by announcing that Metroid Prime 4 was in the works. Unfortunately, the company was unable to provide us with any news about this game today other than that it is still under development.
However, the Nintendo E3 2021 event had a surprise for us: the announcement of Metroid: Dread, the first 2D platformer in the Metroid franchise in 19 years. The game will feature Samus fighting Metroidvania style, just like in the days of Super Metroid (with much better graphics, of course).
Metroid: Dread will be released on October 8, 2021. Nintendo will also be offering game-related amiibo for sale at this time.
Mario party superstars
Nintendo has been redesigning and remastering a lot of its games lately. It has also made compilation re-releases such as the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection. However, with the just announced Mario Party Superstars, it does a little bit of everything.
The game will be a “new” Mario Party title, but it will feature boards and mini-games from previous entries in the series. It’s kind of a mix of a remaster and a new game. It will have classic boards from the Nintendo 64-era series, but just remodeled to look a lot nicer.
The bigger news, however, is that this Mario Party game will feature online games. This way you can play online with your friends or play randomly with other players around the world.
Mario Party Superstars lands on October 29, 2021.
WarioWare: Get it together
We haven’t heard from Wario in a long time, how is he? Well, it turns out he’s as insane and cranky as always. We know this because Nintendo introduced a new game in the WarioWare franchise called WarioWare: Get It Together.
As with other WarioWare titles, this isn’t so much a single game as it is a huge collection of crazy (and sometimes gross) mini-games. Thankfully, it supports two players at the same time, which should make for some incredible couch-co-op sessions.
WarioWare: Get It Together will be released on September 10th.
Shin Megami Tensei V
There are a lot of great RPGs out there for the Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo is never shy about launching more JRPGs on the console. Case in point: Shin Megami Tensei V is traveling exclusively for the console.
As with other games in the popular series, you use turn-based combat to fight enemies and level up your character. It lands on November 12th and pre-orders start on June 21st.
