Elon Musk confirms Tesla production restart, willing to be arrested defying order

Tesla officially resumed production at its Fremont, Calif. Plant on Monday, but not on local government terms. CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the employees are back on duty, expressly saying that the decision violates Alameda County’s order to stay at home.

In fact, Musk said he was ready to be arrested if the factory restarted.

The CEO’s tweets come after it was reported that Tesla resumed production on May 11, although the local government has not received the green light. Last Friday, Governor of California Gavin Newsom said some manufacturing facilities could be put back into operation, but Alameda County – where Tesla’s Fremont factory is located – did not cancel his order.

Subsidiary of Bay Area CBS News KPIX reported that workers moved in and out of Tesla’s plant Fremont, California. Photos from a local Fox News partner KTVU Show crowded parking lots, further indicating that workers returned on Monday morning.
