Elon Musk and SpaceX look to focus on building a Mars Starship in Texas
Now that SpaceX has proven it, a commercial space company can be safe Put people in orbitAccording to CEO Elon Musk, it’s time to focus on pushing them even further.
The missile pioneer said in an email to employees that he wanted to focus on “dramatically” accelerating the development of the company’s next generation Starship, CNBC said.
“Please consider SpaceX’s top priority (apart from anything that could reduce the risk of dragon return) as a spaceship,” Musk wrote.
The spacecraft Crew Dragon launched successfully on a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral last month, bringing NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the International Space Station. The target date for return to Earth has not yet been determined.

Last year NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine seemed to blame Musk in a tweet for the attention given to Starship while the launch date for Crew Dragon remained behind schedule.
The spaceship is the huge spaceship that Musk hopes will eventually transport people to the moon and Mars. It was developed at the company’s plant in Boca Chica, Texas, but downsized prototypes suffered from a Set of errors while SpaceX quickly iterates and works towards its next test flight.
The mandate to focus on Starship comes when the Los Angeles Times reports that SpaceX has canceled a plan to concentrate at least part of its construction in the port of Los Angeles. The company has now been granted twice permission to develop its large missiles in port to terminate the agreement later.
In the internal email, Musk asked employees – most of them in the Los Angeles area – to spend time at the Boca Chica plant in Texas to speed up Starship’s development.
SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
