The Twitch streamer Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, known as Dr. DisRespect has been banned from the game streaming platform, Twitch said on Friday. According to the CNET sister site Gamespot, the ban is reported to be permanent, but the reason for the suspension is not yet known.
“As is our process, we take appropriate action if we have evidence that a streamer violated our community policies or terms of service,” said Twitch’s official statement. “These apply to all streamers, regardless of status or awareness in the community.”
A streamer, Shannon Plante, said she knew the reason why it was banned and “not just by Twitch,” and said it was “serious.” Your tweet has since been deleted.
Twitch declined to comment on the length of the ban. Dr. DisRespect could not be reached and has deactivated Twitter DMs. When you search for his Twitch account, nothing is shown.
Dr. DisRespect was before Twitch was banned for two weeks a year ago because of live streams from the bathrooms of the E3. While delivering live streams to tens of thousands of viewers from the gaming convention, he entered numerous public bathrooms without the consent of the inmates, including a minor. The data breach kicked him out of E3 and he was banished by Twitch for two weeks.
Earlier this week, Twitch also announced plans to issue permanent bans following a wave of sexual abuse allegations against popular Twitch streamers over the weekend. Twitch removed the accounts from streamers like IamSp00n, BlessRNG and DreadedCone.
