Dark modes have become a staple of smartphones over the years, offering a particularly eye-friendly color option at night. But we have also seen that the blue light filter mode has become an integral part of modern smartphones and offers several touted advantages.

The blue light filter option (also known as night light, eye comfort mode, reading mode or eye protection mode) filters out blue light on the screen in favor of warmer tones. Manufacturers claim this option can reduce eye fatigue, while there are also studies suggesting that blue light from screens can interfere with sleep.

However, do you use blue light filter modes on your smartphone? This is what we want to know today in our survey that we presented. So make your voice heard by voting on the poll above and leaving a comment when you have more to say.

Anyway, we’re excited to see that blue light filtering modes are so common across all smartphone brands today, reducing the need for a dedicated third-party app. We’ve even seen manufacturers offer additional features like an on / off schedule and the ability to tinker with the filter intensity.
