Disney World plans reopening date for July 11

Walt Disney World has announced it will reopen the Orlando, Florida theme parks in July thereafter Closes on March 15 due to the spread of the corona virus. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom would reopen on July 11thfollowed by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15th according to Disney’s plan. The parks will have COVID-19 Social reopening and wellness measures at reopening, including temperature testing, wearing masks, six feet away while queuing for attractions, and a reservation system for guests to limit capacity.
Fireworks shows and parades are suspended until a “later date”, as are “high touch” experiences such as character meet and greet and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Jim MacPhee, senior vice president of operations and chief operating officer at The Walt Disney Company, discussed during a presentation.
In addition, cast members, including the cast members of the Social Distancing Squad, will promote practice among guests. Disney will have hand sanitizing and washing stations and increased pressure on contactless payments.
Don’t plan your next trip to Disney World – new ticket sales have been discontinued so that Disney can “focus on guests with existing tickets and reservations.” If you already have a ticket or have an annual pass, you need to go through a reservation system in advance to apply to enter the park. New bookings can be made by Disney Vacation Club members.
Disney World resorts and hotels will reopen next month, starting with Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground on June 22nd. No word yet about when Disney World’s two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, could be reopened.
The message follows that Disney Springs shopping and dining area reopens on May 20th with limited parking, fewer entrances, Temperature control before entry, masks required, physically distant lines and barriers, reduced working hours, no maintenance and more disinfection and disinfection. Shops and restaurants owned by Disney also reopened in Disney Springs on Wednesday.
