Disney Plus will release a Hamilton Special Friday, interviewing the musical’s cast and director, and a historian, to discuss its historical context. This comes a week after Disney’s filmed version of the Broadway hit has sparked interest in Disney Plus.

The special features of Good Morning America are Robin Roberts, who conducts long-distance interviews with the creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, the director Thomas Kail and actors such as Christopher Jackson, Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Daveed Diggs. Harvard professor and historian Annette Gordon-Reed also discusses the historical context of the show.

After Disney Plus released Hamilton last Friday, downloads of mobile apps in the US rose 72% this weekend compared to the average number of downloads over the four previous weekends in June, according to app analytics company Apptopia.
Hamilton’s early streaming release was the latest addition to Disney Plus during the coronavirus pandemic. With the corona virus closing cinemas and forcing families to chat almost entirely at home, Disney has optimized the role of Disney Plus to bring them a series of surprise releases at home as its service takes on a larger and earlier involvement on the big screen Publications of films.
