Dish network operator Satellite Network is expected to close its $ 5 billion deal with the new T-Mobile on July 1. This emerges from a report filed with the SEC on Wednesday. As part of the agreement, which enabled the $ 26.5 billion merger of T-Mobile and Sprint, Dish acquires Sprint’s prepaid mobile operator Boost Mobile and Sprint’s 800 MHz radio spectrum to help build one 5G network support.
The merger of T-Mobile and Sprint was only approved by the Department of Justice if Dish said it would acquire Sprint’s mobile assets becomes a fourth carrier to compete with AT&T, Verizon and the new T-Mobile.
Dish pays $ 1.4 billion for the prepaid business and $ 3.6 billion for the spectrum.
“With the completion of T-Mobile and Sprint, Dish has come a step closer to the country’s fourth mobile operator,” said Dish’s senior vice president Jeff Blum when the merger was completed in April. “We are pleased to welcome Boost customers, employees and dealers.”
Blum added that Dish “is committed to bringing full-fledged, standalone 5G to America.”
