If you woke up this morning and thought, “Man, I really want to pay for another streaming service,” then we have good news for you. On January 4, 2021, the Discovery Network will launch a new premium media streaming service called Discovery Plus.
The new streaming network will contain content from the various properties under the Discovery umbrella. This includes over 55,000 television series from HGTV, The Food Network, TLC, OWN, Animal Planet, and others. In addition to this pre-existing content, Discovery promises to broadcast original content weekly.
Discovery Plus: What Will It Include?
With over 55,000 television series, the Discovery Plus launch will be the largest ever released in streaming history. Right from the start, subscribers can access almost every episode of famous shows like 90 Day Fiancé, Property Brothers, Guy Fieris Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, House Hunters, and more. There will also be documentary series, travel shows, and various other types of reality television.

In addition to this pre-existing content, Discovery promises original shows with famous names. In a show called Bobby & Giada in Italy, Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis will star as they eat all over Italy. Luda Can’t Cook will take the famous rapper Ludacris into the kitchen to see how he’s doing. Clipped will introduce Martha Stewart and other judges evaluating topiary art.
There will also be many new shows in the so-called “90-day universe”, such as 90-day cash all, 90-day diaries, 90-day travel and more.

How much will it cost?
Each subscriber account can share its service with up to five user profiles. There is a limit of four simultaneous streams and the service works on “all major platforms” including attached TVs, smartphones, tablets and the internet.
There are two subscription levels for Discovery Plus. The lowest tier costs $ 4.99 per month. This will give you full access to all content, but you will experience regular ad interruptions. This is similar to how Hulu structures its subscriptions.

Get rid of the ads for an additional $ 2 per month. Apart from the lack of ads, the $ 6.99 level is the same as the $ 4.99 level.
However, if you’re a Verizon customer, at least you may not have to pay anything to begin with. New and existing customers of Verizon’s “Play More Unlimited” and “Get More Unlimited” plans will receive a free year of ad-free Discovery Plus. Start Unlimited and Do More Unlimited subscribers receive six months of free access. Those with Verizon 5G Home Internet or Fios Gigabit Connection will also receive a free year of no-ad service.
Will Discovery Plus be available in my country?
There are some markets where Discovery Plus is already available, such as: B. Great Britain and Ireland. Other countries will have to wait until after January 4, 2021, the date the US launches.
Eventually the service will land in Italy, the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Spain and Brazil. It will also land in “European markets” and “Latin American markets”, although Discovery was not entirely clear in the details.
