Detail wants to turn your phone into a software-optimized camera app for live video – ProWellTech

To meet detail, a new startup working on an app for iOS and macOS so you can turn your iPhone into a software-optimized camera for live video. The startup wants to make it easy to use the phone you have in your pocket with the livestreaming platform you are already using, such as: B. Zoom, Google Meet, Twitch, Hopin or YouTube Live.

If you’ve had to show something to a large audience on a livestream over the past year, you are likely facing some challenges. First as Joanna Stern from the Wall Street Journal shown, Laptop webcams suck. There is no way you are going to look good with your computer.

Second, when you are ready to invest some cash, you can purchase a ring light, specialty camera, good microphone, etc. The problem is that it’s expensive. More importantly, it was very difficult to purchase some of these products as a lot of remote workers were looking for these devices.

Third, you may be able to teach something well, but not good at video production. Those are different skills and somehow people are telling you you should know everything about white balance, anti-flicker, and more.

As for the detail, the company wants to make it as easy as possible to go from zero to livestream. The best camera you have is most likely the one in your pocket, right there on the back of your smartphone. In the past few years, computer photography has brought tremendous improvements to how you take pictures with your phone. But there is still a lot to do in live streaming.

Detail founder Paul Veugen rightly points out Hosting live video has become a commodity. But anything that happens before you send the video feed over the internet could be improved.

Initially, Detail will be an iPhone and Mac app that work like a hand in hand Camo and EpocCam. There will be some user-friendly settings to optimize color quality, add filters, etc. The movement of the smartphone as a webcam will be a stronger opinion.

Behind the scenes, the team is made up of a few people who worked on Human, an app I covered back in 2013. Human was a passive fitness tracking app – you could set it up and get insights into how active you were over the past few days. In essence, it was like Apple’s Activity Ring before Apple introduced the Apple Watch. Human was acquired by Mapbox in 2016.

Detail raised a $ 2 million pre-seed round led by Connect Ventures. Hustle Fund, Alexander Ljung, Anke Huiskes, Arthur Kosten, Elodie and Tony Jamous, Hiten Shah, Janis Krums, Mart Kelder, Micha Hernandez van Leuffen, Othman Laraki, Omri Amir and Sten Tamkivi also take part in the round.

As you can see, Detail is still in active development and beta testing will begin soon. But it’s a fascinating app and I’ll keep an eye on it to see how it develops.
