Dell XP 13 Laptop 2020 Intel 11th Generation Core

  • Dell has updated the XPS 13 family of laptops with Intel’s 11th generation Core processors and Thunderbolt 4.
  • You also get a Windows Hello-friendly camera for the 2-in-1 device and other Linux options.
  • The new models will be available starting September 30, starting at $ 999.

Dell didn’t wait long to take advantage of the latest Intel processors. The PC maker has updated its XPS 13 laptop family for 2020 with 11th generation core chips, adding a few perks in the process.

The standard XPS 13, the Ubuntu Linux-based Developer Edition and the 2-in-1 device are the first laptops from Dell to meet the Intel Evo specification and guarantee a basic level of performance. In addition to the 11th generation core processors, which extend up to the Core i7-1185G7, the XPS 13 will have built-in Iris Xe graphics, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and Wi-Fi 6. Evo also promises nine hours of battery life with a 1080p level indicator and four hours of battery life when charged for 30 minutes.

You also get support for up to 32 GB of RAM (now at 4267 MHz instead of 3733 MHz), a 2 TB SSD and a 4K touchscreen with DisplayHDR 400. Systems start with a Core i3, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1,920 x 1,200 screen. A microSD slot and a headphone jack are standard features of the design, whose almost frameless design seems quite familiar.

Certain models have their own new features. The 2020 edition of the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 includes an infrared camera for Windows Hello logins. A future frost color will replace the arctic white option. And if you’re frustrated with Microsoft or just want a simple Linux option, there are now features that can turn a Windows XPS 13 system into a Developer Edition, where Ubuntu either stands side by side or completely replaces Windows.

Dell will launch its 2020 XPS 13 lineup in North America on September 30, starting at the usual $ 999 for a standard laptop and $ 1,249 for the 2-in-1 variant. This isn’t the first line of laptops to feature 11th Gen Core, but it may be one of the most important. Considered a go-to laptop for its balance of speed, portability, and design, the XPS 13 has been able to maintain that reputation by migrating to the newer Intel CPUs so quickly.
