Dell and Alienware unveil gaming laptops with speedier Intel 11th Gen chips

  • Alienware and Dell introduce new laptops with Intel Core chips of the 11th generation of the Core H-series.
  • You will also be equipped with Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 30 series graphics.
  • Alienware also tested a new X-series laptop with unprecedented cooling technology.

Intel is trotting out new high-performance mobile chips, and Dell is clearly keen to seize this opportunity. The PC manufacturer has introduced the gaming laptop lines G15 (see above) and Alienware m15 R6 (in the middle), which contain processors of the 11th generation of the Core H series in the core.

We’re still waiting for details of the Alienware system as we write this, but the Dell gaming laptop will contain up to a six-core i7 chip that should handle most gaming and compute-intensive tasks well. It may not, or may not have to, lure you away from competing AMD Ryzen-based machines. We would expect at least as much CPU performance in the Alienware m15 R6.

Both gaming laptop models also feature Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series graphics, although Dell hasn’t indicated whether that includes the mid-tier 3050 or 3050 Ti. With the G15, you can count on 120 Hz and optional 165 Hz 1080p displays.

You can expect some design improvements for the Dell gaming laptop as well. While the Alienware machine looks similar to the m15 R5, the G15 has a “gaming-inspired” case with an environmentally friendly palm rest color and slim screen bezels. You have an option for a four-zone, RGB-backlit WASD keyboard, and a keyboard shortcut for the Game Shift key increases the fans so the system continues to function fully.

You don’t have to pay too much to try one of these 11th generation portable devices. Dell will start selling the G15 gaming laptop starting June 3, starting at $ 799. Alienware m15 R6 pricing is not currently available, but the 1st Gen-based R3 officially starts at $ 1,549.99. Don’t be surprised if the company offers comparable pricing.

You can also hold on if your looking for a free Dell gaming laptop. The company has spiced up plans to launch Alienware’s first X-Series system, the X17 (below), during a Twitch stream on June 1st.

Details are rare, but the atypically thin 17-inch PC revolves around a brand new cooling system with a unique, exclusive gallium-silicon thermal material that is supposed to help keep temperatures under control. It’s also the first Alienware laptop to feature quad-fan cooling, which moves large amounts of air while keeping the computer slim. When you combine this with 11th Gen Core and RTX 30 graphics, this may be a rare instance of a large gaming laptop that is still quite easy to carry around.
