  • According to the network operator, there will be no OnePlus 8T Verizon model.
  • This makes the OnePlus 8 UW the only OnePlus phone on Verizon’s shelves.
  • Thankfully, Big Red says it will likely help activate the new smartphone.

Earlier this year, OnePlus hit the big leagues when it launched the OnePlus 8 UW on the largest wireless operator in the US, Verizon. However, it doesn’t look like Big Red is interested in the latest model, as the carrier has confirmed Android Authority that there will be no OnePlus 8T Verizon variant.

This means that Verizon customers will not be able to stop by their carrier store to purchase the new phone. You also cannot take advantage of any discounts or payment plans offered by Verizon.

It’s not all bad news, however. The Verizon rep said activation of the OnePlus 8T is likely to be supported. This leaves the possibility open for Verizon customers to purchase an unlocked model of the OnePlus 8T and use it on their Verizon account.

Not a OnePlus 8T Verizon model, but why?

OnePlus fans on Verizon may be wondering why the 8T is going into the waves. The representative we spoke to unfortunately didn’t clarify. However, it could have something to do with rumors that the OnePlus 8 UW wasn’t a hit with Verizon’s customers.

After messages from PC MagThe OnePlus 8 UW just didn’t sell as well as hoped. It is possible that Verizon will continue to want to focus only on the OnePlus 8 UW and find a OnePlus 8T Verizon variant too confusing for customers. Or it could be that the OnePlus 8’s supposedly weak sales make it too risky to roll out a second version.

Anyway, the bad news at Big Red doesn’t seem to affect OnePlus’ other carrier partnership in the US. There will definitely be a OnePlus 8T model on T-Mobile. In fact, T-Mo is launching a special version of the 8T called the OnePlus 8T Plus (seriously). It appears to be the same hardware, but with additional support for T-Mo’s 2.5 GHz 5G network and an IP68 rating against water and dust.
