TL; DR
- Opposite Chinese digital assistant Breeno has leaked the release date of Color OS 12.
- The date is September 13, 2021. Breeno has since been updated not to serve that date.
- It is very likely that Android 12 will hit the market even before that date.
With the launch of Android 12 Beta 4.1 this week, we’re very, very close to the stable release of the new operating system. At this point, it’s only a matter of weeks before we see it.
On the cover sheets of this release, we should see various companies launching their new Android 12-based Android skins. A Weibo user (via GSM arena) to ask Oppo’s Chinese digital assistant Breeno when Color OS 12 would be released. Surprisingly, Breeno gave a very specific answer.

Translated, this answer appears to be September 13, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. Chinese time. That would correspond to September 12, 2021 at 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
Since that news spread, Oppo has updated Breeno to no longer answer this question. Now it says something like “hold on”.

When Color OS 12 hits the market on September 13th, that would mean Android 12 itself would have already launched. Google is unlikely to launch Android 12 at 3:00 a.m. on a Sunday in New York, so Android 12 is more likely to launch the week before.
Of course, all of this could be a big mistake and Color OS 12 won’t start on that day. However, given that Android 12 is almost ready at prime time, this is not entirely out of the question.
