Chevy C8 Corvette Z06, Zora powertrains possibly leaked in GM document

A big leak – more like someone leaving the tap at full speed – is said to have solved the problem Chevrolet C8 Corvette Future. And the details of the leak largely confirm earlier rumors about new variants in the pipeline.
Hagerty On Wednesday, after receiving a document from General Motors, a company-wide command to discontinue future vehicle development, including the Chevy Corvette, was announced. In it, Hagerty shared details from the document that deal with what is allegedly in the works for the mid-engine Corvette, and if it is valid, a total of four new Corvettes will come.
First is that Corvette Z06which is really a no-brainer. According to the information, a 5.5-liter V8 LT6 dual overhead cam is mounted in the middle, producing 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. Note that there is no mention of a turbocharger or compressor. This corresponds to some specifications of the Corvette C8.R racing car. The new machine is also equipped with a 5.5-liter DOHC V8 without forced induction. There is widespread speculation that this is the same engine that will later flow into the Corvette Z06. According to this information, this is expected to happen in 2022, but delays could further push it back.

Next is the Corvette Grand Sport, another well-known name, and it will have a somewhat familiar engine. The 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine is said to remain standard Corvette Stingray. However, a hybrid system is mentioned that transfers the power to 600 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. The electrification seems to increase the output by 105 ponies over the standard Stingray, and it was planned for 2023.
What was the top of the Corvette hierarchy that Corvette ZR1, is also mentioned with some impressive specs. The document names the 5.5-liter DOHC V8 again, but with a twin-turbo system to boost performance to 850 horsepower and 825 lb-ft of torque. While the engine saw the name LT6 without turbos, this was called LT7. Again, these details are followed by rumors that came into circulation years ago that give Smidge more credibility. The report calls them ZR1 for a 2024 debut date originally.
What is new and is expected is the name Zora. Zora Arkus-Duntov, whom many call the father of the Corvette, worked on numerous Corvette prototypes with a mid-engine during his time. This C8 Corvette production is largely the realization of decades of dreams. It was generally rumored that his name would grace a new Corvette variant to honor him.
In this case, the Corvette Zora with a whopping 1,000 HP and 975 lb-ft torque seems to be the most powerful iteration so far. According to the information, there should be a hybridized version of the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 LT7 to generate the incredible amount of power. More information on how far this electrified Corvette goes with that hybrid system is not mentioned.
A Chevy representative told Roadshow, “We won’t be speculating about potential future products” when asked about the leaked information.
We tend to believe that this information is valid, although it sounds like we have to wait a little longer before we receive new messages about the C8 Corvette.
