The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released guidelines for the reopening of the U.S. on Wednesday Coronavirus pandemic.
The 60-page document establishes a multi-phase approach, including instructions on how to reopen restaurants, bars, schools, and the like, while monitoring and controlling the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The plan also includes issues such as contact tracking, testing, and monitoring.

The document states that “widespread community containment combined with ongoing mitigation activities” can limit the spread of COVID-19 while addressing a “serious threat to the economic well-being of the country and the world”.
The CDC describes three phases for reopeningeach with criteria that must be met before proceeding to the next phase. The criteria include a drop in new cases, a drop in the emergency room or outpatient visits due to “COVID-like illness” and “robust” test ability.
Preliminary guidelines for schools include teachers wearing masks and students (where possible). The desks should be 6 feet apart and all field trips and extracurricular activities should be canceled.
Restaurants should use disposable menus and, according to the CDC, even avoid using buzzers that let you know when your table is ready.
