Camera maker Olympus reportedly denies partnership with Samsung
Robert Triggs / Android Authority
TL; DR
- Olympus has reportedly stated that there is no partnership between it and Samsung.
- This comes after rumors about a partnership for the Galaxy S22 series earlier this year.
- Olympus told the Android Authority that there was nothing to discuss or announce.
A lot of Galaxy S22 series rumors and leaks have surfaced online in the past few months, but one of the craziest claims we’ve heard is that Samsung may be partnering with Japanese camera maker Olympus for the new phones.
Now Olympus has allegedly told Let’s go digital that there is no collaboration between him and Samsung. Android authority Olympus also followed and a marketing rep told us the following:
The only official statement I can give you from our side in this regard is that, from our point of view, there is nothing to discuss or announce.
The statement given to us is ambiguous compared to Let’s go digital‘s information that technically does not exclude a partnership. We contacted Olympus to clarify exactly what was meant by this statement, but the company subsequently told us that it was not commenting on any rumors.
However, if it actually turns out that Olympus and Samsung are not working together like the reliable Dutch outlet reports, it does not mean that there have been no talks from the start. Theoretically, it is also possible that Olympus is in talks with another smartphone manufacturer instead. However, there would be no shortage of smartphone OEMs joining forces with an established camera brand.
We have contacted Samsung with a comment on the Olympus rumors and will update the article accordingly when it reaches us.
