B&W brings Signature touch to sweet-looking 700 series speakers
Bowers and Wilkins are bringing back the signature banner for their latest speaker series – the 705 and 702 Signature – which offer both internal and external upgrades.
Both speakers are upgrades to that existing 700 series speakers This includes improved crossover designs and components (Mundorf capacitors, larger heat sinks, and an improved LF capacitor on the 702), as well as a number of cosmetic improvements.
Both speakers benefit from the Continuum driver of the 700 series plus a carbon dome tweeter in a solid housing that was milled from a single piece of aluminum.
The 702 Signature is the “Ultra” version of the existing 702 S2 floorstander and includes:
- Three-way ventilation box with carbon tweeter on top
- Three 6.5-inch bass profiles with wing profile
- A 6-inch continuum midrange
- Price: $ 6,499.99, AU $ 8,500

The smaller two-way signature 705 contains:
- Tweeter-on-Top 1-inch carbon tweeter
- A 6.5-inch continuum bass / midrange
- Price: $ 3,999.99, AU $ 4,999
According to Bowers and Wilkins, the upgrades “improve the already remarkable resolution, openness and spatial reclamation and give them an even more sophisticated, refined and rousing sound”.
Cosmetics have seen a significant increase with an ebony-colored veneer from Datuk Gloss and light metal cladding rings around the drivers and light, silver-colored tweeter grids. Each speaker has a signature label on the back.

With a premium of over $ 1,000 over the standard 700 series, the signature speakers are significantly more expensive, and potential buyers will have to consider whether to spend more on the device 800 series would be worth more.
It was a big week for the manufacturer after Sound United (Denon, Polk) announced it was talking to the brand about acquisitions. The British company was bought by start-up Eva Automation in 2016, while the union produced it Formation series of products that CEO Gideon Yu left earlier this year.
